Over the past few months, I have been creating famous graphic designer “profiles” for some of the most famous graphic designers over the past century. This list is by no means exhaustive and I know that there are so many more equally creative and successful designers out there to be explored, so fear not! I’ll continue my research and bring you bite sized profiles of different kinds of designers in the future!
But for now, I thought we’d review this list of “legendary” graphic designers so that you can have a main page to springboard to the different profile pages. Each page includes a little snapshot into the graphic designer’s life and a downloadable worksheet to help students follow along. 🙂

This was the first graphic designer that I researched. He was part of the “Mad Men” era and he is a very interesting fellow. He is passionate about finding new ideas that will become iconic in the world of advertising.

Michael is mainly a logo designer or a brand identity designer. He not only provides the logo for a company, but also the many publications for which a company will present themselves to customers. Mostly, he works on corporate logos.

Chip is possibly one of the “nerdier” designers of the bunch…which is pretty cool if I do say so myself! He is into comic books and works on a wide variety of projects, but his main focus is on designing book covers.

If you could call graphic design a religion, I would say that Massimo would belong to that religion. He was very passionate about his work and insisted that art and graphic design should never mix!

A pioneer in the world of creative movie credits, Saul reinvented the way that the beginning of movies were seen in the 1960s. Saul also worked in advertising but movie posters and beginning credits is where he earned his fame.

Despite being the only woman of the group, Walsh stands up proudly as one of the top designers of this century. She also specializes in brand identity and advertising and she recently created her own company, becoming one of only a few woman own and run creative design companies worldwide.

So, there you have it! It is a short list, and again, by no means exhaustive, but it was designed to be a springboard for students to begin learning and understanding some of the best graphic designers of today and of the past.
